Course Description
This training provides the knowledge and skills needed to offer support to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use problem or crisis, and to connect them to appropriate care.
This course is open to everyone, regardless of background or experience. Mental Health First Aiders include teachers, first responders, veterans, parents, community members or anyone who wants to make their community healthier. The Adams County Health Department offers MHFA in a hybrid format. Participants first complete 1–2 hours of self-paced online pre-work through the MHFA Connect platform, followed by an 8-hour, in-person session featuring interactive discussions, videos, and group activities. Upon completing all course components and passing the online post-test, participants earn certification as a Mental Health First Aider.
