We support all families! The terms “she,” “mother,” “mom,” or other references to females also includes people identifying as other genders and non-binary. Breastfeeding also includes chest feeding, body feeding, and the expression of human milk for the purpose of feeding infants and children.
Breastfeeding is the healthiest option for babies and mothers. The Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding until the age two. However, according to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE), in Colorado only 1 out of 4 infants are breastfed exclusively for the first six months of life and 1 out of 4 infants continue to be breastfed through their first birthday. Breastfeeding mothers need support from their community to be successful.
